Madrid

Chocolateria San Gines – best churros and chocolate I’ve ever had, and it’s open 24 hrs a day

La Venencia – ancient, low-key sherry bar that also serves some nibbles (olives, jamon, etc)…dusty sherry bottles adorn the walls

Bodegas Ricla – across street from Botin (oldest restaurant in the world according to Guinness World Records) this small, old-school bar makes their own excellent sherry.  As with La Venencia (and many Spanish bars), it’s served with a complimentary bite (I had a piece of sausage on crostini).
